What Creeps You Out? Bed Bugs, Dust Mites or Carabid Beatles

What creeps you out at night when you are lying awake? Do you hear the wind blowing, something clawing at the door, shadows passing the window or do you feel the dust mites crawling on your skin?

Whatever it is, we all have felt that way. If you are one of those people that say nothing creeps you out I will have to call you a liar right now.

Anyway, take a minute to read this blog post by Rob Dunn.   Scientist Spots Missing Link in his Basement, but is too Sleepy to Catch it. It will make you think.

Can Dust Mites Make You Snore ? Ask Darth Vader

People snore for many different reasons. Some because of health reasons like sleep apnoea and others it’s an environmental thing such as dust mites. No matter the reason, snoring can be bad for your health, marriage and sex life.

The Daily Mail from across the pond published a very good article by By Matthew Barbour that describes the different types of snorer. The question is are you a Nasal, Tongue or Mouth or Darth Vader snorer? If you are not sure just click on the link http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2070341/Snoring-Is-partner-whistler-rumbler-Darth-Vader-wheezer.html?ito=feeds-newsxml and find out.

He even gives you a test so you can see which type you are.

The reason I titled this post “Can dust mites make you snore” is because they can. If you have allergies to dust mites there is a good chance you will snore. My wife covered our bed with the covers and while it did not stop me it made it better. At least that is what she says.

Dust Mites Can’t Stand Living In Luxury

Dust mites like to live, breed and die in dark damp places. That’s why they choose to live in your mattress and pillows.

Did you know they don’t like to live in silk? Neither did I until today. It seems as thought silk naturally repels dust mites and bed bugs. Dust mites don’t have a clue what they are missing.

Check out this video Bugs Do Not Like Silk

Silk is hypo-allergenic, regulates body heat, strong, cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold and great to snuggle. I’ve slept on silk sheets a time our two and they felt so good against my skin. If your looking for a silk comforter or blanket the Allergy Store now carriers Mulberry West’s line of silk bedding. Great addition to the dust mite covers on your bed.

Dust Mite Spray – Which One is Best

The obvious answer is the one you will use. Just like so many other products we buy thinking they will fix our current problem, they no good if you don’t use them. There is not a dust mite spray on the market that you can spray once and forget about it.

Over the years I have found the products manufactured by a company call Allersearch Labs the most effective. They make 2 different sprays.

ADS Anti-allergen spray is a tannic acid based product so you need to be careful when using it on light/white color fabrics. This is one of the very first products ever introduced that dealt with allergens from dust mites, cat dander and pollen. Each treatment last about 90 days.

ADMS spray works on the same thing as the ADS, dust mites, dander and pollen, but is made for use on all water soluble fabrics. In the case of ADMS the treatment last about 30-40 days.

With both products more is not better. You do not need to soak the fabric. Just mist. If whatever you sprayed is damp 15 minutes later you used too much.

We have used the sprays on our dust ruffles, pillow shams, decorative bed spread, couch, chairs and in the car. I have heard of some people who have sprayed it on a rag and wiped down the walls.  The best thing to do is see what works for you.

Just keep in mind that no matter what you buy, if you don’t use it it won’t work. which

Dust Mites Don’t Like Miele Vacuum Cleaners

To continue my conversation about why you should think about Miele vacuum cleaners I want to talk quality.

So many of the products we all buy today are designed for planned obsolence. They are built to last 2, 3 maybe 4 years and that’s it. When was the last time you took a DVD player into get it fixed? Hell, can you even find someone to fix it?

Miele makes all their vacuum cleaners to last. The give you a 7 year warranty on the motor. That is the heart of the vacuum so you know they are serious. The housing is made of tough ABS plastic just like a motorcycle helmant so you know they can take a hit.

Recently I was at Lowes checking out their line of vacuums. They all looked good but I doubt one of they will even come close to lasting and working as well as the Miele. Go to you local Miele dealer and play with one before you buy any other vacuum cleaner.
