Traveling with Allergies – Allergy Proof the Hotel Room

If you are like me, you have put a great deal of time, effort, and expense into making your bedroom as allergy-free as possible.  When you travel, you leave all that protection behind.  Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, you want to feel your best.  That means you need some way to take that protection with you.
It is possible, it just takes a little planning.  A step by step guide is included here.
In addition, you can call in advance and find out if the hotel has rooms without carpeting.  If they are available, make your request in advance. They will be much more able to accommodate your needs if they know before you check in.
I am also a great fan of traveling with some quantity of ADMS Anti-Allergen Spray.  Whether I’m traveling by car and can pack a full quart or traveling by air and must pack a smaller quantity, I don’t leave home without it.
Once, hubby and I traveled to Atlanta for a business-related seminar and stayed in an older hotel in the downtown area.  I was a little nervous about the place because of my allergies, but you just can’t beat the charm of some of these older southern hotels. (I mean you aren’t in Charleston if you aren’t in the Francis Marion!) When we arrived in the lobby I thought there might be a problem.  When we got to our room and opened the door, I just knew immediately I was going to be ill.  While it was a great updated room, it still was old.  Mike is such a great guy. He just said, “No problem..we’ll just move”.  But before we took that step we broke out the bottle of ADMS and sprayed down the upholstered furniture, the carpeting, and applied an extra heavy dose to the AC unit.  I sprayed the bedspread and then turned it back and sprayed all the bedding.
We freshened up and decided to grab a bite of dinner and see how the room was when we returned.
After a great meal we walked back to the room and opened the door cautiously.  I could feel an immediate difference.  The denaturing agents in ADMS had been hard at work while I had been having a relaxing meal.
I slept as well that night as I would in my own bed.  The next morning, I gave the bedding and bedspread a quick spray before I left the room.  No problems.  As a matter of fact, the stay was as pleasurable as I have ever had.
So you can travel with allergies if you are prepared. Make the best of your summer vacation.
